Next Step Carbon for Educators

Why Career Education Matters in Carbon County
One of the most important goals of our local schools is to prepare students for life after graduation. In Carbon County, our teachers, counselors, and administrators work together to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world careers.
Career education plays a key role in this process. Through dedicated courses and hands-on opportunities, students build the knowledge and skills needed to meet—and exceed—the Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards. These standards focus on four key areas:
-
Career Awareness and Preparation
-
Career Acquisition
-
Career Retention and Advancement
-
Entrepreneurship
By connecting education to future opportunities, career education helps students make informed decisions about their goals and career paths. It sparks motivation, strengthens engagement, and gives students the confidence to step into their futures prepared and inspired—whether they choose college, technical training, military service, or the workforce.
