Did you know that plumbers call the day after Thanksgiving, “Brown Friday?” It is the busiest day of the year for us! So while you are preparing your holiday meals and getting ready to host company, don’t forget to get your plumbing ready, too! Just follow the 3 P’s below to make sure you have enjoyable and worry-free holiday season!

PREPARE

  1. Do a PRE-CHECK to ensure that your hot water heater, garbage disposal and dishwasher are in good working order!
  1. Get ready for more showering and toilet flushing by INSPECTING pipes, faucets, toilets and showers for leaks, so you can address any issues prior to company!
  1. PLACE a drain strainer in your kitchen sink and make sure it’s clear or debris!

PREVENT

DON’T LET YOUR HOLIDAY DINNER GO DOWN THE DRAIN…

  1. AVOID EMPTYING FOG: fats, oils and grease into your drain. Cool and trash FOG or recycle and reuse!
  1. Stringy veggies, bones, scraps, potato skins, pasta and rice are a NO GO in your garbage disposal and neither is paper! Dispose of them another way…like in the compost pile, trash or recycle bin!
  1. Remember that stuffing is for turkeys! KEEP your garbage disposal RUNNING SMOOTHLY by turning both the disposal and water on while rinsing and doing dishes. PACE what goes down the drain, so your disposal works more efficiently and is less likely to clog or break by over stuffing!
